Generator Inspections

Electrical installations or parts of an electrical installation where the use of generating sets for the supply of electricity is provided by electricity generating sets, driven by internal combustion engines, are required to be designed installed and maintained to the appropriate Australian standards and guidelines.

Work on electrical installations where the use of generating sets for the supply of electricity at voltages normally exceeding 50 V a.c. or 120 V d.c. , where the electricity-generating sets are driven by internal combustion engines, and which are used for the supply of electrical installations in buildings or items of electrical equipment in the state of Victoria are deemed to be prescribed work and as such requires verification and certification by a “G” class electrical inspector, to provide for safety and proper functioning for the use intended.

Generating sets requirements cover the temporary and permanent installation of the generating sets connected to, construction sites, homes, farms, hospitals and similar installations.
