Solar Systems Inspections

Electrical installations in the state of Victoria containing solar systems, including domestic, solar farms, small to large commercial installations, are required to be designed and installed to the appropriate Australian standards and guidelines.

Work on electrical installations where solar systems, including domestic, solar farms, small to large commercial installations in the state of Victoria are deemed to be prescribed work and as such requires verification and certification by a “G” class electrical inspector, to provide for safety and proper functioning for the use intended of the installed solar systems.

This inspection covers the electrical and general safety installation requirements for inverter energy systems (IES) up to or equal to 200 kVA for the injection of electric power to an electrical installation connected to the grid at low voltage.

Australian standards do not cover larger systems connected to a low voltage grid with the local load connected, however, the inspection by a suitably qualified and licensed electrical inspector is required who will apply the same general guidelines as per smaller systems.
